Home Safety Evaluations

Safety in the home is fundamentally important for anyone from newborns to seniors. We know that many Emergency Room trips can be avoided if there were fewer safety threats in the home. We will come to your home and use standardized safety evaluations to identify and find ways of remedying safety hazards in your home.

This service is particularly useful for patients getting discharged from the hospital or rehabilitation center, or for children who want to help their parents continue to live safely in their home.

As part of our evaluation we will:

• Clean out medicine cabinets
• Prepare state of the art home first aid kits
• Identify physical and chemical hazards in the home including lead, radon, pesticides in the water, other indoor environmental hazards
• Arrange for changes/construction in the home for those with new physical/cognitive challenges
